Shearer’s Foods, Inc. is proud to honor JIM WARD (Dalton) as their “Jack and Rosemary Shearer 2007 Associate of the Year.” As the top Massillon Branch Associate, Jim is a 26-year route sales associate servicing the Massillon area. “Jim is very well-liked by his customers and seldom misses an opportunity for a sale,” says Skip Skelley, Massillon Branch Manager. “Trained originally by Bob Shearer, Jim has had the top-selling route in the company for over 20 years. Another remarkable fact about Jim—he has not missed a single day of work.” With this honor Jim received $2,500 and a beautiful trophy. The other Department Associates of the Year who competed for the top honor were: Lori Bantum (Strasburg) Machine Operator, Gary Gardner (Warren) Youngstown Branch, Amy Hammel (Navarre) Quality Assurance, Randy Hyrne (Canal Fulton) Management, Mike Jefferson (Pittsburgh) Pittsburgh Branch, Matt Kutschbach (Massillon) Administration, Jim Lehman (Beach City) Sanitation, Rob Lewis (Painesville) Cleveland Branch, Linda Massie (Dalton) Packaging, George Maxin (Louisville) Warehouse, Scott Phillips (Massillon) Maintenance and Mike Trampevski (Clinton) Processing.
Roger Yoder (Navarre) of Shearer’s Purchasing Department was named the 2007 Community Service Award winner. This annual award is given to an associate who gives their own personal time to serve the local, regional, national or international community. A $1,000 prize is donated in the associate’s name to the approved charity of their choice.
Associates celebrating service anniversaries and perfect attendance were also honored at Shearer’s Associate Appreciation Dinner. Twenty-Five Year Associates were: Dan Bales, Rocky Frailly, Peggy Gradijan, Tom Heath, Angie Hostetler, Janet Schwab, Steve Surmay, Ron Van Horn and Jim Ward.
Annually, Shearer’s awards an associate with perfect attendance a Caribbean cruise for two and a week’s paid vacation. Steve Saunier (Massillon), a five-year Shearer’s associate, was the winner this year.
