The Shearer’s Team earned $3,300.00, and qualified for the Silver Level in the June 6-7, 2008 Relay for Life Event in Canton, Ohio. The Team also won awards for Best On-Site Fundraisers and Most Money Raised by a Team of 15-29 Members.

The Team wore the Relay for Life t-shirts for the opening laps and then changed into the Shearer’s Team shirts. The Team walked all night and the DJ commented hourly how nice the Shearer’s shirts were. Many participants said that Shearer’s had the best raffle baskets. The Cavs tickets, the Indians tickets, the Grady Sizemore autographed Sports Illustrated magazine and the “Pink” basket were the biggest money-makers.

Chris Sample, Sara Zerbe, Dan Bales, Tammy Patterson, Mike Pitsenbarger and Shannon Miller and their children spent the entire night walking the track and participated in all the activities. Tammy's nieces took care of the booth and sold raffle tickets and nachos. Mark Myers entered the “Ms. Relay” Contest at 11:00 p.m. and did a great job. Tammy and Mike won the Cornhole Tournament at 3:00 a.m. The kids did Kareoke at 4:00 a.m. and enjoyed the inflatables.

The Canton Relay for Life Event raised more than $130,000 with a goal of $185,000.

Thanks to Shannon Miller who coordinated Shearer’s Relay for Life Team!
