Shearer's Honored with NorthCoast 99 Legacy Award as Top Employer

Shearer’s Foods has been honored with the NorthCoast 99 Award for ten consecutive years as a top employer in Northeast Ohio. The company was further honored with the first Legacy Award for being one of only three companies to win the NC99 Award all ten years of its existence. In the article “Down to Earth” (INSIDE BUSINESS, September 2008), Chief Executive Officer Bob Shearer talks about the corporate culture, open communication and unique benefits that Shearer’s Foods offers to attract, motivate and retain top talent.

This year Shearer’s was a Finalist in the Workforce Planning Category, one of seven special awards. In previous years, the Shearer’s has won numerous category awards including Community Service, Safety and Health, Training and Development, and Recruitment and Selection, as well as the first Diamond Award for being the top employer in Northeast Ohio.

The NorthCoast 99 is an annual recognition program that honors ninety-nine great Northeast Ohio employers. Winners are chosen during a year-long process coordinated by the Employers Resource Council (ERC), Northeast Ohio’s leading professional organization dedicated to HR practices, programs and services. Their mission is to encourage all local employers to focus on developing great workplaces to make the region more competitive nationally and globally. Great workplaces excel in attracting, retaining and motivating top performers by maintaining a foundation of organizational policies and practices that are designed to support the fundamental needs of great talent.

Since 1999, the NorthCoast 99 Award has honored over 300 organizations. The NorthCoast 99 Program has been recognized in local and national publications.
