Robert J. (Bob) Shearer, Chief Executive Officer of Shearer’s Foods, Inc., was honored as a 2009 Distinguished Citizen of the Western Reserve. Shearer’s associates, business associates and friends joined Bob and Melissa Shearer at a black tie dinner held May 21 at the Kirtland Country Club in Willoughby, Ohio.
As the CEO, Mr. Shearer is responsible for developing the culture and guiding the expansion of of the award-winning company, where the customer always comes first. He has been recognized with numerous accolades, including being inducted into the Northeast Ohio Business Hall of Fame in November 2008 and receiving the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award in the Northeast Ohio region. Shearer’s is celebrating 35 years of business in 2009.
Richard M. (Rick) Osborne, Sr., Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Energy West, Incorporated, was also honored.
To be considered as a candidate for this honor, individuals must exemplify the three areas of importance to Lake Erie College—tradition, excellence and service. They must make a notable contribution to the community or region in the areas of service, philanthrophy, business, education arts or health care and uphold high moral standards.
Proceeds of the annual event benefit the Lake Erie College Scholarship Fund.
