Brewster, Ohio: The Shearer’s Foods Relay for Life Team joined the fight at Glen Oak High School on June 5 and 6, 2009.
With the support of Shearer’s Caring and Sharing Committee, the Shearer’s Team raised more than $2,500 to achieve a Silver Team Level for the second year in a row. Overall, the 18-hour event raised more than $90,000 for the American Cancer Society, which is a huge success during a very tough fund-raising year!
Shearer’s participants included Mike Pitsenbarger, Tammy Patterson, Sara Zerbe, Bill McCabe (Shearer’s Ms. Relay Contestant!), Pat McCabe, Paul Smith, Chris Sample, Steve Sample, and Brad Hamilton, Jr.
Along with the many candy bars that were sold prior to the event, volunteers cooked BBQ chicken and rigatoni to sell at the event, along with Shearer’s Snacks, of course. A special thank you to Merv Miller, Amanda Miller, Zach Gingerich, Jeremy Gingerich, Mitch Miller and Stephanie Miller, who cooked the chicken, set up the tent and manned the food and raffle sales.
Generous donations were raffled and auctioned at the event as well. Shearer’s offers a sincere THANK YOU to: Acme Fresh Markets, ECO, The Ohio State University, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Giant Eagle, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Lake County Captains, Cleveland Cavaliers, Smith Dairy, Lake Erie Monsters and the Akron Aeros for their donations.
A very special THANK YOU to Shannon Miller, who coordinated a very successful Shearer’s Relay for Life Team!
