Shearer's Foods Honored with the Frito-Lay Contract Manufacturing 2008 Supplier of the Year Award

Brewster, Ohio: In June, Frito-Lay awarded Shearer's the prestigious Contract Manufacturing Supplier of the Year Award for 2008. Frito-Lay evaluates the contract manufacturers on Quality (Total Quality Complaints and Foreign Matter Complaints), Audit for Excellence, AIB Audits, Service, Productivity, Sustainability, and Wildcard (Business relationship). Shearer's out-performed the other 33 contract manufacturers for Frito-Lay to win this award. Shearer's also won this award in 2003.

Additionally, Frito-Lay awarded Shearer's the first annual Sustainability Award for 2008. Frito-Lay and Shearer's both believe that resource conservation is essential from an environmental and profitability perspective. Shearer's received this award due to efforts in reducing natural gas, electricity, water, and sewer usage; hosting and attending multiple resource conservation meetings/conferences; and implementing/utilizing the Frito-Lay sustainability scorecard.

Since 1999, Shearer’s Foods has proudly produced Frito-Lay’s successful Kettle Cooked potato chips at their Brewster, Ohio and Lubbock, Texas manufacturing facilities. Shearer’s values the relationship they have built with Frito-Lay over the past ten years.
