Shearer's Foods Receives NorthCoast 99 Award As A Great Place To Work

Brewster, Ohio: Shearer’s Foods has been honored with the NorthCoast 99 Award for the eleventh consecutive year as a top employer in Northeast Ohio.

The company was further honored with an Award for Leadership for CEO Bob Shearer’s challenge to Shearer’s associates to find ways to cut costs in order to finance raises in 2009.

 In the article “Best Office to Share Ideas” (INSIDE BUSINESS, September 2009), Mr. Shearer talks about the great ideas Shearer’s associates offered up in trade for a raise. “I am a firm believer that the people who are doing the work have the best ideas, the best suggestions and the best ways to do it better,” said Mr. Shearer.

Last year Shearer’s was honored with the first Legacy Award. In previous years, the company has won numerous category awards including Community Service, Safety and Health, Training and Development, and Recruitment and Selection, as well as the first Diamond Award.

Shearer’s is the only company to win the NorthCoast 99 Award all eleven years of its existence!

The NorthCoast 99 is an annual recognition program that honors ninety-nine great Northeast Ohio employers. Winners are chosen during a year-long process coordinated by the Employers Resource Council (ERC), Northeast Ohio’s leading professional organization dedicated to HR practices, programs and services. Their mission is to encourage all local employers to focus on developing great workplaces to make the region more competitive nationally and globally.
