Shearer's Foods Receives Cascade Capital Business Growth and Legacy Awards

Brewster, Ohio: Shearer’s Foods, home of Shearer’s Award Winning Snacks, has been honoreds a 2009 Cascade Capital Business Growth Award winner for the fourth consecutive year. Additionally, the company received the prestigious FirstMerit Legacy Award. In previous years the company was awarded the 2006 and 2008 Overall Success Story in the area of manufacturing/distribution. In 2007, Shearer’s received the award for the highest employee growth in the same category.

Accepting awards is nothing new to Shearer’s. Since its founding in 1974, the Brewster-based snack food manufacturer has been honored for product quality,business growth, customer service, human resources practices, sustainability, community service and innovation in manufacturing. In the October issue of Smart Business magazine, the article “Food for Thought” shares the company's strategies for associate development and first class customer service.

Winning companies are located in Summit, Medina, Portage, Wayne and Stark Counties in Northeast Ohio, and earned the Award by increasing their sales level 100 percent or $5 million, or increasing employee numbers 50 percent or 25 people. Profits generated by these growing companies are reinvested in the local economy with the purchase of goods, services, equipment and facilities and the hiring of new employees, leading to increased growth and stability.

Cascade Capital is certified by the SBA to deliver and service their 504 Loan Program in Northeast Ohio. A number of Business Growth Award winners received funding from Cascade Capital.
