    Shearer's Foods Awarded 2011 Cascade Capital Business Growth Award For Sixth Year

    Brewster, Ohio:  Shearer’s Foods, home of Shearer’s Award Winning Snacks, has been honored as a 2011 Cascade Capital Business Growth Award winner for the sixth consecutive year.  This year the company also  on the top award for Sales Growth in the Manufacturing and Distribution Category. 

    Chairman and CEO Bob Shearer was recognized with the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award.  The article, “Seizing Opportunities,” about how Bob Shearer inspires future leaders with the success of Shearer’s Foods, appears in the October 2011 issue of Smart Business magazine.  Accepting awards is nothing new to Shearer’s.  Since its founding in 1974, the Brewster based snack food manufacturer has been honored for product quality, business growth, customer service, human resources practices, sustainability, community service, and innovation in manufacturing.  
     
    Winning companies are located in Summit, Medina, Portage, Wayne, Ashland and Stark Counties, and earned the Award by increasing their sales level 100 percent or $5 million, or increasing employee numbers 50 percent or 25 people.  Profits generated by these growing companies are reinvested in the local economy with the purchase of goods, services, equipment and facilities and the hiring of new employees.

    The Awards were presented by Cascade Capital Corporation and sponsored by Smart Business magazine.
