Brewster, Ohio:   Bob Shearer, Chairman and CEO of Shearer’s Foods, Inc. was honored with the Harold Bostic Legacy of Commitment Award in recognition for service of, and investment in, Massillon for enerations—past, present and future.  The award was presented Bob Gessner, President of the Massillon Development Foundation, at the 95th Annual Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce dinner on March 28, 2011.
 
In his presentation speech, Mr. Gessner said, “With an investment of more than $60 million dollars and a commitment to hundreds of new jobs created by his company, he (Mr. Shearer) sets the standard in community growth.  However, pure numbers are not the only reason why we honor him today.   His intense drive to succeed and visionary leadership to grow his company in a challenging economic environment is beyond measure.”  The Harold Bostic Award, established in 1985, is presented annually to an individual or organization that endeavors to improve the economic base of the Massillon community.  
 
Additionally, Shearer’s was a sponsor of the Business Plan Development Program of the Chamber’s Business Education Advisory Committee, whose purpose is to develop ideas, strategies, and programs to help students to be prepared to meet the demands of the 21 Century workplace resulting in a stronger business community in Western Stark County.  Perry High School, Washington High School and R. G. Drage Career and Technical Center were the award recipients.
